SKN Moving Towards Better Health and Better Living
A 7-Week Campaign designed to educate and empower the people of our nation to make healthy lifestyle choices throughout the life course.
The 7-week campaign is planned to commemorate the establishment of the SKN Moves Programme in St. Kitts & Nevis.
The campaign runs from the first week in August to the second week in September annually. A host of events and activities are implemented to showcase the many resources, benefits, and services available through the SKN Moves Programme.
Each week focuses on a specific area of healthful living while engaging and empowering the public to make healthier choices.

Ready! Set! Sweat! Lose It, To Win It!
August 1st - Sept 15th 2022
This is a 7-week fitness and weight loss challenge. Once registered, participants will weigh in at the Ministry of Health, Bladen Commercial Development, Wellington Road, Basseterre (Total Concept Building), to provide baseline data for the challenge. The weigh in will be held from Wednesday 3rd – Friday 5th August.
Each week a short demo video of a new exercise will be posted on the SKN Moves and the St. Kitts HPU Facebook and Youtube pages. Each exercise can be done on a beginner, average or advanced level. Each exercise will be done 20 times on the first day, and 5 reps will be added each day of the week. (Saturday will be a rest day.) Each exercise video will be produced by Gym Instructor Mr. Adolphus Jones.
The 7 exercises are:
- Push ups
- Jumping jacks
- Burpees
- Sit-ups
- Skipping
- Squats
- Mountain climbers
Participants will be encouraged to post participation videos/pictures of you eating healthy meals or doing the various exercise moves each week on the above mentioned social media pages using the hashtag #SKNMovesReady!Set!Sweat. Encourage your family and friends to like and share your posts as this will also count towards your participation points.
The final weigh in will be held on Monday 18th September at the Ministry of Health. Awards will be given to the top 3 participants along with certificates of participation for the top 10 participants.
Dare to Change Challenge
August 1st - Sept 15th 2022
Encouraging the monitoring of Blood Pressure and Blood Glucose levels in people living with chronic diseases.
This is a 6-week health screening challenge catering to clients of the Diabetes/Hypertension clinic at the health centers. The criteria is as follows:
- Each health center will select 4 participants for this challenge.
- Every Thursday Morning the nurses will monitor the Blood Pressure and Glucometer readings of these clients.
- All readings will be documented and submitted each week to the Chronic Diseases Self-Management Program (CDSMP) Coordinators.
- Awards will be given to the top 3 participants as well as to the Nurse manager of the 1st place client.
No SSB Challenge
August 21st - August 27th 2022
Encouraging the reduction in the consumption of Sugar Sweetened Beverages (SSBs).
This is a 2-week challenge that encourages the participants to replace the SSBs consumed on a daily basis with water. The criteria is as follows:
- Participants will be expected to register for this event. Registration will open on Sunday 15th August 2021.
- Participants will be asked to keep a video diary of progress throughout week which includes recording your daily water consumption.
- There will be check-ins with participants at the start, middle and end of the two-week period to assess and encourage your participation.
- Participants are to post & share videos and photos of you drinking water on the St. Kitts Health Promotion, SKN Moves and Lake Health and Wellbeing Facebook pages.
- Awards will be given to the top 3 participants along with certificates of participation for the top 10 participants.
